Jim has practiced law in Madison since 1961, and now limits his practice to suit an active retirement lifestyle split between Arizona and Wisconsin. In his earlier years, Jim's emphasis was in qualified retirement plans, tax exempt organizations and health care organizations. Jim's present practice concentrates in the organization and operation of closely-held corporations and businesses, estate planning and probate, and real estate. Among his more interesting recent projects are the development of an eight-phase, 400-lot residential plat, the organization of two limited liability companies, and settlement of an estate tax audit on the valuation of a large closely-held corporation.
Jim is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Ripon College with a B.A. degree in economics and political science. He earned his law degree at the University of Wisconsin in 1961. He has been active in community service throughout his professional career and at various times has served as president of the Madison Club, as president of Blackhawk Country Club, on the vestry and as senior warden at Grace Episcopal Church, on the Board of Trustees at Ripon College and in various offices of the Dane County and Wisconsin Bar Associations. |
