Steve's practice areas include taxation, closely held corporations and businesses, banking and mortgage banking, commercial and consumer lending, real estate, estate planning and probate.
In 1980, Steve graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He served as clerk to Honorable John W. Reynolds, Chief Judge of the Eastern District of Wisconsin, for a year prior to entering private practice in 1981. He practiced law in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, until October 1986, when he joined Gateway Foods, LaCrosse, Wisconsin, as its Assistant General Counsel. While with Gateway Foods, Steve handled a broad range of legal issues and transactions affecting grocery, convenience store and institutional food businesses. He returned to private practice in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1988 and joined SB&G in 1998.
Steve is a Beta Gamma Sigma graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BBA degree in finance and MBA degrees in accounting and finance. He has taught intermediate accounting at UW-Madison and Carroll College and has passed the CPA examination.
He is a member of the American, Wisconsin and Dane County Bar Associations.
