Laura has practiced law since 1986, concentrating on commercial and asset-based lending transactions. Laura has drafted and negotiated a wide variety of loan documents, including debt and lien subordination, participation, intercreditor and loan disbursement agreements. She advises lenders on workout strategies and enforces the rights of secured lenders in mortgage foreclosure and repossession actions as well as in bankruptcy proceedings. Laura is familiar with a number of federal, state and municipal government-sponsored loan programs and has been designated by the United States Small Business Administration as a 504 closing attorney.
Another strong area of Laura's practice is the resolution of commercial disputes by litigation, arbitration and mediation. Although Laura has experience with a variety of litigation subject matters, including business tort action, her practice emphasizes contract disputes. She has resolved disputes arising out of fair dealership, asset purchase, and licensing agreements, leases, contracts for the purchase and sale of real estate and equipment, and professional service and construction contracts. Because cost control is a major part of Laura's approach to litigation, she recommends the creative approaches to dispute resolution and early settlement opportunities whenever such strategies are appropriate. She advises clients regularly of her assessment of the case and the likely financial consequences of each probable outcome, so decisions can be made on an informed basis.
The balance of Laura's practice is devoted to representing individuals and businesses in commercial and real estate transactions. Laura has provided a wide variety of legal services to clients with the objective of identifying, quantifying, and reducing legal risks to business transactions.
Laura is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Madison with a B.A. degree in economics and political science. She earned her law degree at Marquette University Law School in 1986 where she was a member of the Marquette Law Review
